The Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice is the first stage of academic training to become a Licensed Conveyancer. The qualification is made up of a total of five units, this is designed to give prospective licensed conveyancers a good grounding in the core areas of law and conveyancing practice. This Level 4 Diploma is awarded by SQA, the national awarding organisation. No previous experience, knowledge, skills or understanding of Conveyancing procedure and practice are required, and it is not necessary to be employed in the legal sector role to study for this qualification.

What units do I need to study?

To achieve the Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice Certificate must study the Mandatory Units:

• The English Legal System

• Law of Contract

• Land Law

• Standard Conveyancing Transactions

• Understanding Accounting Procedures for Conveyancing Transactions

By following the Apprenticeship route, learners will either need to present evidence of their achievement of GCSE Mathematics and English or an equivalent at Grade C (new Grade 4 or above) or complete the Functional Skills at Level 2 in English Mathematics during the Apprenticeship programme duration. You must also work a minimum of 30 hours.

 

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered via blended learning, with the full support of personal tutors, all of whom hold professional legal qualifications and have been in practice.

The course is delivered in a one-to-one face-to-face training session, usually at the workplace of the learner or via our video-conferencing system. These sessions are supported by call slots and email tutorials.

 

How are the units assessed?

The first four units are assessed by extended essays/assignments and can be completed in the candidate’s own time. The final unit, ‘Understanding Accounting Procedures for Conveyancing Transactions’ is assessed by exam.

 

How long is the course?

The course can take up to 24 months to complete depending on the individual learner and their existing qualifications and experience in the sector, including EPA (End Point Assessment).
